Reading Passage: A Solo Trip

Reading Passage

Maria had always wanted to travel abroad, but she had never had the chance until last year. By the time she finally booked her flight to Portugal, she had already saved enough money for two weeks. If she had waited any longer, she thought, she might never have gone at all.

The trip was organised by a small travel agency that was recommended by a friend. Maria was told that the hotel was close to the beach, and this turned out to be true — it was only a five-minute walk away. Although the weather wasn’t perfect every day, she still had an amazing time. She must have taken over two hundred photos!

These days, Maria plans a trip every year. She used to be nervous about travelling alone, but now she loves the independence it gives her. In her opinion, everyone should try travelling solo at least once — despite the initial nerves, it’s one of the best ways to grow in confidence.
