Used To — Past Habits and States
How has your life changed since you were a child?
Notice
- I used to live in a small village.
- I didn’t use to like vegetables.
- Did you use to play outside a lot?
Rule
Used to + base verb describes a repeated past habit or a past state that is no longer true. Negative: didn’t use to. Question: did…use to. It always contrasts the past with now.

Answer: used to - She ___ (not/use to) drink coffee.
Answer: didn’t use to - ___ you ___ (use to) play an instrument?
Answer: Did / use to - We ___ (use to) walk to school every day.
