What did you do last weekend? If you can answer that in English, you’re using past simple — the tense this whole A2 course builds on.

Notice

“I was tired yesterday.” — “They were at the park.” — “She visited her parents last month.” — “We went to the cinema on Friday.”

Rule

Was/were is the past of “to be” (I/he/she/it = was, you/we/they = were). Regular past simple verbs end in -ed (visited, worked, watched). Irregular verbs change form completely (go → went, see → saw, have → had) and simply must be memorized.
