Can-Do Task: Tell Your Story

Now put it all together. Think of something that happened to you — a funny mistake, a surprise, a trip, or an ordinary day that went wrong.

Your Task

Write (or record yourself saying) 5–6 sentences telling the story. Include: at least one past continuous sentence (to set the scene), at least one past simple sentence (the main event), and at least two sequencing words (first, then, while, finally).

Model Answer

“Last Saturday, I was walking to the market when it suddenly started to rain. First, I looked for my umbrella, but I didn’t have one! Then, I ran into a small coffee shop. While I was waiting for the rain to stop, I met my neighbor there. Finally, after twenty minutes, the sun came out again.”
