  • Example: A thorough investigation was conducted into the delays. The analysis revealed a significant increase in customer complaints. It is recommended that further review be undertaken before any decision is reached.

Rule

Your task: Write 5–7 sentences in the style of a formal report (about any topic: a workplace issue, a survey result, a project update). Use at least three nominalised phrases and avoid contractions and phrasal verbs.

Practice

  1. Planning line: what will your report be about?
    Answer: Personal answer.
  2. Draft one sentence using a nominalised noun phrase.
    Answer: Personal answer, e.g. ‘A thorough analysis was conducted.’
