  • I haven’t seen that film. Neither have I.
  • She enjoys hiking, and so do I.
  • He can’t drive, nor can his brother.
  • I’m not convinced, and neither is my colleague.

Rule

So + auxiliary + subject agrees with a positive statement; neither/nor + auxiliary + subject agrees with a negative statement. Both invert the subject and auxiliary (like a question) and avoid repeating the whole verb phrase — a compact, natural way to express agreement.

    Answer: So do I.
  2. Agree using ‘neither’: ‘I don’t like spicy food.’
    Answer: Neither do I. / Nor do I.
  3. Complete: ‘She hasn’t called yet, and _____ has he.’ (neither/nor)
    Answer: neither / nor
  4. Correct the error: ‘I can’t swim, neither he can.’
    Answer: I can’t swim, and neither can he. (subject-auxiliary inversion required)
