Hook
If something hurts, how do you say which part of your body it is? Let’s learn the basic body vocabulary first.
Notice
Look at these body parts:
- head, hair, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth
- neck, shoulder, arm, hand, finger
- chest, back, stomach
- leg, knee, foot, feet (plural of foot), toe
Rule
Most body parts are countable and follow regular plural rules: one eye, two eyes; one hand, two hands.
Irregular plural: foot → feet (not foots), tooth → teeth (not tooths).
We usually say “my/your/his/her” + body part (not “the”): My head hurts. (NOT the head hurts)
