Read this dialogue:
Doctor: Good morning. What’s wrong?
Patient: I don’t feel well. I have a headache and a sore throat.
Doctor: Do you have a fever?
Patient: Yes, a little.
Doctor: You should rest and drink lots of water. You shouldn’t go to work today.
Patient: Thank you, doctor.
Rule
Review the key phrases for a doctor’s visit:
- What’s wrong? / I don’t feel well.
- I have a… (symptom)
- Do you have…?
- You should / shouldn’t… (advice)
Practice
- What does the doctor ask first? (Answer: What’s wrong?)
- What phrase means “I am sick”? (Answer: I don’t feel well.)
- Complete: Do you ___ a fever? (Answer: have)
- Give one piece of advice using “should”. (Answer: e.g. You should rest.)
- Write your own 4-line doctor’s visit dialogue using symptoms and advice.
