Whose Is It? Possessive ‘s and Adjectives

Hook: Showing who owns what is one of the first things you need to say about people and things.

Notice: “This is Tom’s book.” “This is my book.” “That is her bag.” “Those are their shoes.”

The rule

For names and nouns, add ‘s to a singular noun (Tom’s book) and just an apostrophe to a plural noun ending in s (the students’ books).
