Can-Do Task: Write About Your Daily Routine

Your Task

Write about your daily routine. Describe one typical weekday from morning to night in 8–10 sentences, then add two sentences about what is different at the weekend. Read it out loud when you finish.

Before You Start

  1. Make a timeline: 6–8 things you do on a weekday, with the times.
  2. Write one sentence for each, using the present simple and at + time.
  3. Add at least three frequency words (always, usually, sometimes…).
  4. Use sequence words to connect the day: first, then, after that, finally.

I usually get up at half past six. First I have a shower, then I have breakfast with my family. I always drink tea, never coffee. At a quarter to eight I take the bus to work. I start work at half past eight and I finish at five. I have lunch at one o’clock with my colleagues. In the evening I cook dinner and I sometimes watch a film. I usually go to bed at eleven. At the weekend I don’t work. I often visit my friends on Saturdays and I relax on Sundays.
