Who, what, where, when, why, how — you’ve used all of these throughout this course. Let’s review them all together.

Question words and their uses:
- Who — person: Who is that? (My teacher.)
- What — thing: What is this? (A pen.)
- Where — place: Where do you live? (In London.)
- When — time: When is your birthday? (In May.)
- Why — reason: Why are you tired? (Because I worked late.)
- How — manner/method: How do you go to school? (By bus.)
- How much/many — quantity/price
- How old — age
Rule
Structure: Question word + am/is/are/do/does/did/can + subject + verb?
- Where do you live?
- What is your name?
- Why are you late?
Practice
- Choose the question word for a person: ___ is your best friend? (Answer: Who)
- Choose the question word for a reason: ___ are you happy? (Answer: Why)
- Choose the question word for time: ___ is the party? (Answer: When)
- Choose the question word for a place: ___ do you work? (Answer: Where)
- Complete: ___ old are you? (Answer: How)
- Write a question using “how” about transportation. (Answer: e.g. How do you get to work?)
