How are you feeling today? Happy, tired, worried? Let’s learn simple words to describe emotions.
Notice
Common feelings:
- happy, sad, angry, tired, excited
- scared/afraid, worried, bored, surprised, nervous
Examples:
- I feel happy today.
- She looks tired.
- Why are you sad?
- He’s nervous about the test.
Rule
Use I feel / I am + feeling word to describe emotions: I feel tired. I am happy.
Use look/seem + feeling word to describe how someone appears: You look worried. She seems excited.
Ask: How do you feel? or What’s wrong? or Are you OK?
Practice
- Complete: I ___ (feel) very tired today. (Answer: feel)
- Complete: She ___ (look) worried. (Answer: looks)
- Choose the correct feeling word for: you got a great gift (Answer: excited/happy)
- Choose the correct feeling word for: you have a big test tomorrow (Answer: nervous/worried)
- Ask how someone feels. (Answer: How do you feel? / Are you OK?)
